Born in Kerrville Texas, March 18, 1980, John Christopher Way couldn't help but find his musical talent from a family where music came naturally. His father, Johnny Delton Way, played fiddle, mandolin, guitar and banjo professionally. By the time John was 3 he could play his first tune on the fiddle. While practicing everyday with his father he became more and more familiar with the love and feel of playing by ear. When John was 8 he taught himself to play the bass and drums. While he became proficient at playing them, he wanted to keep learning and understanding more instruments. At 11 years old, John was given his first guitar, a Fender Stratocaster. Learning to play guitar had many adventures like writing songs and showing signs of singing while playing. Playing guitar became a love of John's while learning many styles and developing his own. In 1996 John was awarded the Texas Heritage Award. He accepted the award on stage opening for Willie Nelson. Throughout his high school years John focused on writing while playing on the weekends. In 1997, he entered the Reach the Stars talent contest in Dallas Texas, coming away with 3rd in the competition with over 300 contestants competing.
John attended college in Waco Texas, where he played live shows and recorded sessions playing guitar, fiddle, mandolin and singing to make it through 2 years of college. Shortly after that he decided to take his talent to Nashville, Tennessee. In 2001, John won the Music City 103.3 Ford Truck Song-writting Competition. He had the honor to open up for Joe Diffie at the new Country Music Hall of Fame downtown Nashville. Joe handed John the keys to a brand new Ford F-150 super cab sport addition pick-up truck. This opened up John's music career in the business. Recognition came through writing and playing.
John spent 7 years in Nashville working and playing for artists such as Joe Diffie, Doby Gray, Michael Peterson, Terry McBride and more. John plays more than 7 instruments fluently and has written well over 250 songs. Some recorded by published and Texas music artists. John stays true to the Texas tradition while allowing his own creative style of playing, writing and singing shine. Some of his inspirations are Steve Wariner, Vince Gill, Gene Watson, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Shenandoah, Brent Mason and Jimmy Seals.
